Before we can even attempt to follow the advice we’ve all read to calm our anxieties like going for walks, eating healthy, or meditating, we need to first ACKNOWLEDGE OUR FEELINGS. Pushing them down won’t help you or anyone around you. Feeling anxious during this craziness is normal… at any age.

In this episode, Kevin welcomes Ned Johnson (co-author of national bestseller, The Self-Driven Child) to discuss some of the neuroscience behind stress as well as his recent article in the Washington Post: offering tips on how to increase our kid’s sense of control during this global crisis.

“After this virus has run its course, not only will we have a greater herd immunity to the virus (through exposure, like we used to do with chicken pox), we may have greater herd immunity to the stress. And if we handle it properly, our children will, too.” – Ned Johnson

One of the biggest takeaways that neuroscience teaches us is that adversity in life wires the brain for resilience. So, this crisis maybe more of an opportunity than we realize to learn new ways to handle our anxiety while practicing techniques to spread CALM in our homes and throughout the world around us.
